However, there is an option in most routers that allows you to easily associate a device with the network, forgetting the dreaded password. This feature is called Wi-Fi Protected Setup, better known as WPS.

Before WPS Button arrived, it might have been a real headache for many to create a wireless network name since this has to be done manually. To create a wireless network name, you must know about the WiFi device and the modifications to your configuration.
What is WPS?
WPS represents a WiFi Protected Setup that aims to facilitate a wireless device with a router. This technology only works with wireless networks requiring a password and encrypted with the WPA Personal or WPA2 security protocols. One thing that should be remembered is that it does not work when the wireless network is used to secure the WEP security protocol.
WPS is designed to simplify the connection process to a wireless network with your device. With WPS, you can skip connecting to a network successfully and entering the password. More straightforward as a wireless network with SSID, secure WPA data encryption, and authentication. It makes things easier.
How Does WPS Button Work?
Now you know what it’s like with WPS, but how’s it? The first step is to press the WPS button on your router’s rear. It will be close to Ethernet ports on some routers. Take your device and push its button for a connection to the network. Without entering any information, your device connects to the network automatically.
You do not have to repeat the process without pushing the WPS button again, even if you use it to connect to your network. It will not be difficult for your device to record the necessary data to connect to the network.
There’s not always a button to press when using WPS. Specific devices support WPS, but the button is not provided. If you have a WPS configuration page, then you must enter an eight-digit code. The code is automatically created and cannot be modified by the user.
It has activated automatically on the majority of routers. Still, there are others that require you to turn it on with the firmware of the router and the user interface of administration.
There might even be a button in some models to enable/uncheck and WPS. If that is the type of model you have, you can switch on/off the device quickly, but when the device is pressed for 3 seconds, it will switch to WPS. With it, you don’t have anybody to worry about because it isn’t the user that creates the passphrase or security key.
