How your ticket helps our conservation efforts
The ring-tailed lemur is endangering due to habitat loss and poaching being the greatest threat to the wild population. Their habitat is already limited in southern Madagascar and is declining due to annual burning practices to create new pastures for livestock, overgrazing by livestock, and logging for charcoal production. I help.
Ringed lemurs are found in six national parks and three reserves where they are protected. They are also hunted for meat and kept as pets, although taking animals from the wild for this purpose is illegal.
By purchasing a ticket to Boleto de experiencia detrás del escenario del zoológico de Adelaida lemur feeding, you’re not only supporting the incredible species in our care, but you’re also helping us raise awareness and precious funds to protect their wild cousins. A portion of the proceeds from our animal experiences contribute to the work that Zoos SA does in support of a wide range of conservation programs inside and outside our gates.
What to expect?
Enter the lemur exhibit with your keeper. Observe their movements as you watch these incredible animals feed. On cold days, the group gathers to keep warm, and on sunny days, they sit with their backs, legs, and arms outstretched, soaking up the sun. The group’s favorite foods are raisins, dried fruits, and baked sweet potatoes. Kids love fruit puree ice cubes on hot summer days as a special treat. The experience also includes full-day access to Adelaide Zoo to experience the lush CBD Botanical Zoo, a 15-minute walk from the Rundle Shopping Center in the heart of Adelaide.
